Brian Schiefer
-Biography

Brian Schiefer, a medically retired Air Force veteran, founded SCI-DI to accelerate scientific progress for spinal cord injury (SCI) and traumatic brain injury (TBI). After a 2008 training accident left him with an SCI, Brian leveraged his resilience and expertise to champion innovative therapies. A two-time Los Angeles Marathon finisher (hand cycle) and participant in over 300 hyperbaric oxygen therapy dives and nearly 100 scuba dives, he explores advanced recovery methods for TBI, PTSD, and inflammation. His advocacy extends to holistic remedies, including plant-based therapies, to enhance mental health and human performance. Brian’s leadership in research drives breakthroughs in neuroinflammation and recovery, informed by his roles as a CDMRP consumer reviewer and speaker at prestigious events like the 2024 Aerospace Medical Association Meeting. As an adaptive scuba enthusiast, he promotes dive medicine and accessibility. Brian bridges nonprofit, for-profit, and academic sectors to advance cutting-edge science, policy, and advocacy. His vision empowers those with SCI and TBI, fostering hope and transformative healing through innovative and novel approaches.
