Dr Gerald Valentine MD -Biography

Gerald Valentine, M.D., a distinguished psychiatrist based in Santa Fe, NM, brings over two decades of expertise to advancing mental health treatment. A Yale-trained physician with dual B.S. degrees in Biochemistry and Microbiology from Indiana University, he completed his psychiatry residency at Yale in 2002. Dr. Valentine’s career spans clinical practice, research, and academic leadership, including roles as Director of Clinical Studies at Yale’s Depression Research Program and Lecturer at Yale’s Department of Psychiatry.

His innovative work explores novel therapeutic approaches, integrating advanced techniques to enhance mental resilience and recovery. He has conducted pioneering research on substances like psilocybin and MDMA for conditions such as OCD and PTSD, demonstrating their potential to transform neural pathways. Additionally, his studies on neuromodulatory interventions, including ketamine and riluzole, have advanced treatment options for depression. Dr. Valentine’s expertise extends to optimizing physiological conditions for healing, drawing on his extensive research into neurotransmitter systems and stress response mechanisms. A recipient of the NARSAD Young Investigator Award, he continues to shape the future of psychiatry through private practice and consultation, offering hope to those with treatment-resistant conditions.
